Over 100 British elite troops sent to Ukraine amid fears of Russian invasion.

Reports The Mirror.

Troops from the SAS, the SBS, the Special Reconnaissance Regiment and the Special Forces Support Group are understood to be working in the country as military advisers.

They are helping train Ukrainian Special Forces in counter-subversive tactics, sniping and sabotage.

A source said: “UK special forces have been deployed to the region to help and advise the Ukrainian military. They have a wide skill set which will no doubt be very useful to the Ukrainian forces.”

British special forces have been able to deploy such a large number to Ukraine as they are no longer operating in Afghanistan.

Although the SAS and SBS are still in Syria and Iraq, the numbers of troops there are believed to be relatively small.

Military instructors from the UK train the Ukrainian military as part of the Orbital training operation, which began after the Russian aggression.

In addition, against the background of the accumulation of Russian troops on the border with Ukraine, Britain handed over to our country a number of weapons, including NLAW anti-tank systems.

On January 17, 2022, Defense Minister Ben Wallace announced during a parliamentary hearing that London would supply Ukraine with light anti-tank defensive weapons.

The Minister of Defense noted that the UK reserves the right to provide bilateral support to Ukraine, when asked, in areas that will better help our defend itself.
