During the night of May 14, Russia launched a massive combined assault on Ukraine using ballistic and cruise missiles, along with hundreds of attack drones of various types.

According to the Ukrainian Air Force, air defense radar systems detected a total of 731 aerial threats, including 56 missiles and 675 drones. The main target of the attack was Kyiv.

As of 8:00 a.m., Ukrainian air defenses had intercepted or suppressed 693 aerial targets, including 41 missiles and 652 drones.

Kinzhal Missiles

The Ukrainian Air Force said Russia also fired three Kh-47 Kinzhal hypersonic ballistic missiles from the Lipetsk region of Russia.

In addition, Russia launched 18 ballistic missiles identified as either Iskander-M missiles or S-400 air defense missiles from the Bryansk and Kursk regions. Ukrainian air defenses intercepted 12 of them.

Due to the similar flight trajectories of these missiles, it is not possible to immediately determine their exact type. The final identification is made after examining the debris recovered on the ground.

Russia’s Iskander tactical missile system is being used not only to strike military targets, but also to terrorize civilians across Ukraine.

Meanwhile, Russia occasionally uses S-400 air defense system missiles to strike ground targets in Ukraine.

Kh-101

Russian strategic aviation launched 35 Kh-101 cruise missiles at Ukraine during the night from the Vologda region. Ukrainian air defenses shot down 29 of them.
