A Ukrainian company has developed a virtual reality training simulator designed to train soldiers how to shoot down FPV drones using hunting rifles.

Created by Atmaraksi, a firm specializing in modern training tools for the military, the VR system simulates combat-like conditions to help personnel practice drone interception in a safe yet realistic environment.

The simulator enables troops to build muscle memory, adopt proper stances, and maintain control under stress — all critical skills for effectively neutralizing drones.

Developers say it also boosts soldier confidence by reinforcing “victory patterns” — repeated successful responses to drone threats that are embedded subconsciously.

Combat veterans who have faced FPV drones on the battlefield contributed to designing the simulator’s scenarios. Virtual drones attack from various directions and speeds, closely mimicking the unpredictability of real-life encounters.

The simulator features adjustable settings, allowing instructors to tailor difficulty levels, modify targeting cues, and control elements like preemptive fire options.

After completing thousands of simulated scenarios, users reportedly develop near-instantaneous reactions to incoming threats, significantly improving battlefield performance.

The VR tool is suitable for both new recruits and experienced soldiers seeking to refine their anti-drone capabilities.

This is one of several VR-based systems developed in Ukraine to counter the growing use of FPV drones in the war. In a separate initiative, volunteers recently donated Chaika-M simulators to troops of the 5th Border Detachment to support similar training.
