Ukrainian troops use МТ-12 modernized anti-tank guns on the chassis of a tracked armored fighting vehicle in battles on the outskirts of Bakhmut.
United24, a volunteer organization, published the video on the issue on its social media.
The video showcased how the self-propelled gun crew fires high-explosive anti-tank (HEAT) rounds by semi line-of-sight fire, probably on armored targets.
Guidance is carried out by a UAV operator, who monitors the situation and adjusts the work of gunners.
Earlier, Militarnyi reported that Ukrainian military engineers installed an anti-tank gun on an tracked armored fighting vehicle.
Four engineers worked on the system’s installation for one month.
During the modernization, the military managed to install a МТ-12 “Rapira” 100mm anti-tank gun on a MT-LB tracked armored fighting vehicle.
In general, “Rapira” is a towed gun transportable on the trailer wheeled trucks or tracked tractors.
Installation of the gun on MT-LB reduced the time of deployment of the gun on the frontline and significantly increased the mobility of the system, which was a weak point of this type of weapons.
To ensure stability in the combat position, the engine blocks were added to this gun. The full crew consists of 6 soldiers.
The use of such DIY modernizations is a direct result of attempts by military personnel to compensate for the shortage of traditional artillery in the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
