Satellite images revealed that Storm Shadow cruise missiles struck the location of the Communications and Radio Technical Support Battalion on the grounds of the Taganrog-Central airfield.

The satellite images were published by OSINT analysts from the CyberBoroshno community.

Judging by the published images, two buildings were destroyed as a result of the strike, and military equipment was relocated to another location, outside the frame.

The mission of such units is to provide headquarters with stable wired, radio, and satellite communications, as well as radio-technical support, including the provision of navigation and radar information for air traffic control.

Therefore, communications and radio-technical support battalions are among the priority targets, as airfields cannot function properly without them.

The Air Force used Storm Shadow cruise missiles to strike Russian military airfields in Voronezh and Taganrog, as well as the Black Sea Fleet’s aviation headquarters in Sevastopol on May 27.

According to information from the General Staff, the targets of the strikes were software and hardware complexes for automated reconnaissance systems of the Russian Air Force in the Voronezh and Taganrog regions and in the temporarily occupied Crimea.

The Taganrog-Central airfield is the home base of the Russian Armed Forces’ 708th Separate Military Transport Aviation Regiment. The regiment is equipped with Il-76 transport aircraft, which provide logistics, troop and equipment transport, as well as airborne operations.

In addition, the 325th Aircraft Repair Plant (“325 ARZ”) is located on the airfield’s grounds; it repairs An-12, An-72, and An-72P aircraft, as well as assemblies, units, and instruments for An-24, An-26, Tu-134, Tu-142, Tu-154, Il-76, Su-24, Su-25 aircraft, and Mi-8 and Mi-24 helicopters.

Following a missile strike in the city of Taganrog, one of the production halls at the Atlant-Aero drone plant was completely demolished. The facility specializes in the production of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), including the Molniya strike drones.

To destroy this facility, the Ukrainian military used long-range missiles in January. Auxiliary buildings were also hit.

Subsequently, on April 19, the plant was attacked again with Neptune cruise missiles, which destroyed part of the auxiliary infrastructure.
