China has asked Ukraine not to launch strikes on Vladivostok, a city in Russia’s Far East.
Wire by Kyodo News reported the request, citing its own sources.
According to the report, Beijing made the request to ensure the safety of a Chinese delegation attending the Eastern Economic Forum.
The Chinese delegation at the event was led by Vice Premier Ding Xuexiang, who ranks sixth in the Politburo of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China.
In his evening address on September 1, Volodymyr Zelensky also mentioned that Ukraine had agreed to refrain from striking the city, but he did not specify which country had made the request.
“Another major world power approached us and asked for a temporary halt strikes in the direction of Vladivostok. We will honor that request,” Zelensky said.
As previously reported, Russian dictator Vladimir Putin has ordered a three-day pause in strikes on Kyiv starting at midnight on September 6, citing a visit by Trump’s envoys.
