A road bridge over the Tumen River has been opened on the Russia–North Korea border, along with the Khasan border crossing.
Russian outlet Interfax reported on this.
The new two-lane 1-kilometer-long bridge and the 10-lane border crossing will significantly expand land connection between the two countries.
Such infrastructure creates a direct road transport lane for the rapid transfer and logistics of military cargo and ammunition between North Korea and Russia.
With the access road connecting to the federal Ussuri Highway, Russia will be able to transport North Korean military aid across the country.
The two countries were previously connected only by a railway bridge and air links, which significantly limited the speed of cargo flows.
Construction of the bridge started in spring 2025 under the strategic partnership agreement signed by Vladimir Putin and Kim Jong Un.
