Ukraine Uses Storm Shadow Missiles to Strike Airbases in Voronezh and Taganrog

On May 27, Ukrainian Air Force aircraft used Storm Shadow cruise missiles to strike Russian military airbases in Voronezh and Taganrog, according to the General Staff.

The military command also confirmed that the headquarters of the Black Sea Fleet’s aviation forces in Sevastopol was hit in the same missile strikes.

The targets of the strikes were software and hardware intelligence automation systems of the Russian Air Force in the areas of Voronezh, Taganrog, and temporarily occupied Crimea.

Voronezh

The attack on the Russian Baltimor military airbase in the city of Voronezh took place on May 27, 2026, after a missile alert was declared in the region at 05:17 a.m.

Shortly afterward, an explosion was heard near the airfield, and smoke began rising from the area. At 05:44 a.m., authorities lifted the missile and drone alerts.

The airbase is home to the 47th Bomber Aviation Regiment of the 105th Mixed Aviation Division. It serves as the main base for Russian Su-34 fighter-bombers, which regularly carry out strikes against Ukraine.

Taganrog

It was also reported yesterday morning that Ukraine’s Defense Forces struck an aircraft repair plant in Taganrog, in Russia’s Rostov region.

However, as has now become clear from the General Staff’s statement, the actual target of the strike was the Taganrog-Central military airbase, on whose grounds the above-mentioned enterprise is located.

The airbase is home to Russia’s 708th Military Transport Aviation Regiment. The regiment operates Il-76 transport aircraft used for logistics, troop and equipment transfers, and airborne operations.

Sevastopol

The strike on the headquarters of the Russian Black Sea Fleet’s aviation command in Sevastopol took place on May 27 at around 05:00 a.m., after drone and air raid alerts were declared across temporarily occupied Crimea.

Later that day, it was reported that the building had burned down after being hit by missiles. Photos from the scene published online confirm this.
