Russian Officer Who Passed Information for Attack on Training Ground Near Volnovakha is Now Fighting for Ukraine

A Russian officer who passed information to the Ukrainian Defense Forces about the concentration of Russian troops has defected to the side of Ukraine.

He said this in an interview on the YouTube channel Apostle Dmytro Karpenko.

The Russian is currently fighting as part of the Russian Volunteer Corps.

We are talking about an incident at a training ground on February 20th, 2024, near Trudovske in the Volnovakha area, where a battalion of the 36th Separate Guards Motor Rifle Brigade of the Russian Armed Forces was lining up at the same time every day.

At the time of the attack, the soldiers of the 4th, 5th and 6th companies of this brigade were waiting for the arrival of the commander of the 29th Combined Arms Army of the Eastern Military District, Major General Oleg Moiseev.

According to reports, at least 65 Russian soldiers were killed in the attack.

The RVC fighter also said that he had passed on the coordinates of the Storm-Z unit’s personnel concentration and the location of Russian equipment.

The enemy losses are estimated at 19 people, although it is assumed that there could be more.

The brigade commander forbade the evacuation of the wounded and dead, and ordered the remnants of the unit – four soldiers – to storm Ukrainian positions.

Among the vehicles he mentioned were UAZ 452 (Bukhanka) and home-made modified buggies. The exact losses were not specified.

The soldier passed intelligence to the Defense Forces for seven months.

Thanks to his help, Russian troops suffered significant losses and were unable to advance in this area.
