Lithuania continues to provide military aid to Ukraine and recently sent М577 Command Post Vehicles to Ukraine.
The Ministry of Defense of Lithuania said that the equipment had already arrived in Ukraine.
Command Post Vehicles are designed to provide radio communications, command and control of the Ukrainian Ground Forces.
Military aid from Lithuania currently includes various weapons, ammunition, drones, counter-drone equipment, training for soldiers, and repair of heavy equipment.
“Continuous support for Ukraine is our strategic goal. Weapons and equipment supplied by us and our allies make a decisive contribution to Ukraine’s struggle for independence and the security of Europe as a whole. We will support Ukraine as long as necessary,” the Lithuanian Defense Ministry said.
As previously reported, in 2022, Lithuania had already transferred М577 Command Post Vehicles to Ukraine.
In 2016, Lithuania purchased 168 German М577 armored personnel carriers from the German military arsenal, spending a total of €1.6 million on this.
According to the treaty, the Lithuanian military received М577 Armored Command Post Vehicles in several batches over the following two years.
Along with the vehicles, the Bundeswehr also transferred spare parts, maintenance tools, and equipment for the crew to its Lithuanian partners.
In 2019, the German enterprise FFG Flensburger Fahrzeugbau Gesellschaft mbH won a tender set up by the NATO Support and Procurement Agency (NSPA) to modernize 22 M577 armored personnel carriers of the Lithuanian Armed Forces.
Upgraded M577 can be used to control PzH 2000 howitzers.
In February of this year it became known that Ukraine would receive 36 additional 155 mm self-propelled tracked and wheeled howitzers from Germany.
