The Ukrainian Defense Forces struck several infrastructure sites in temporarily occupied Crimea that are used by Russian forces to attack Ukraine and support their military operations.
According to the Crimean Wind Telegram channel, the combined strike hit a military base area, the western section of Hvardiiske airfield – used for launching drones – a railway station in the town of Kirovske, where secondary explosions were reported, as well as a thermal power plant and an electrical substation in Sevastopol.
In particular, according to NASA’s FIRMS monitoring service, an abnormal increase in temperature was detected near the Hvardiiske airbase (45.13446780256526, 33.91148525053993) at 02:14 a.m.
According to the Crimean Wind Telegram channel, the area where a fire was detected is a former military unit. The airfield itself is currently used as a launch site for Shahed kamikaze drones targeting Ukraine.
South of Kerch, the service also detected a fire on the grounds of a military compound. According to the channel, explosions in Kerch were heard at 02:08 a.m., 02:23 a.m., 03:34 a.m., and 03:36 a.m. In addition, the FIRMS service reported that the fire spread to the seaport area, where an oil depot is located.
In addition, near Kirovske, at 00:30 a.m., a drone strike hit a facility in the area of the railway station. According to a video published by witnesses, a fire and secondary detonations started after the attack. It is currently unknown what exactly was located there at the time.
Another target was a thermal power plant. The drones also struck the main substation, PS 330/220/110/35 kV, in Sevastopol, which supplies electricity to the entire Sevastopol power grid and is a key infrastructure hub for the city.
After the strike, Sevastopol experienced a power outage at around 03:20 a.m.
Militarnyi previously reported that units of Ukraine’s Special Operations Forces, together with members of the SOF Resistance Movement, successfully destroyed a railway bridge in occupied Crimea.
The first phase of the operation to disrupt the logistics hub took place on the night of June 22, using medium-range attack drones.
SOF drones struck the bridge structure multiple times. The explosions caused critical damage to the railway track, completely stopping train traffic on that section.
In addition to damage to the tracks, a precise strike caused the collapse of one of the bridge’s large spans.
