Ukrainian defense technology company SkyFall and European aerospace giant Airbus Defence and Space have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to launch a strategic partnership.

SkyFall announced the agreement in a statement to Militarnyi.

The memorandum was signed at the ILA Berlin Air Show in Berlin in the presence of German Defence Minister Boris Pistorius.

The partnership aims to enhance the defense of Ukrainian and European airspace against mass drone and missile attacks.

It also seeks to strengthen Ukraine’s role as one of Europe’s leading centers for defense technology development and innovation.

A key focus of the partnership will be the integration of Ukraine’s P1-SUN interceptor drones with Airbus Air C2, the company’s air command-and-control system.

According to SkyFall, the P1-SUN has already demonstrated strong performance in real combat operations, proving effective against a wide range of aerial threats, including drones and missiles.

“The P1-SUN interceptors have already destroyed around 10,000 Russian drones of various types, demonstrating the effectiveness of the technology in countering aerial threats. This success laid the foundation for our partnership with Airbus, under which we are working to develop a next-generation, multi-layered air defense system,” a company representative said.

Michael Schöllhorn, CEO of Airbus Defence and Space, emphasized that countering modern aerial threats requires flexibility and solutions with short development cycles.

“Airbus brings deep systems expertise and extensive experience in command and control (C2), particularly in integrated air and missile defense (IAMD). The Ukrainian side contributes invaluable combat experience and technologies that have been proven under real-world battlefield conditions,” Schöllhorn said.

Schöllhorn said that combining Airbus’s systems expertise with Ukraine’s battlefield-tested technologies will help advance the development of a resilient, multi-layered air defense network capable of keeping pace with rapidly evolving threats on the modern battlefield.

The partnership also aligns with the goals of the European Sky Shield Initiative (ESSI). By bringing proven Ukrainian defense technologies to Europe, it aims to strengthen the continent’s technological sovereignty and enhance its ability to develop and deploy advanced air defense capabilities.
