Ukrainian Railways received SHATRO COUNTER-MESH electronic warfare systems free of charge.
The systems are designed to protect rolling stock and critical infrastructure facilities from UAVs using mesh networks, Ukrainian company Unwave told Militarnyi.
Ukrainian Railways officially confirmed the system’s high effectiveness in real-world operating conditions.
The first systems were handed over to railway workers for trial operation at the end of June. Enemy UAVs equipped with mesh modems were detected within the systems’ coverage area at distances of 500 to 1,500 meters.
As they entered the system’s operating area, Russian drones changed their flight paths.
The SHATRO COUNTER-MESH suppresses communication links between a UAV’s mesh modem and other network nodes at a range of up to 1,000 meters. This prevents command transmission and disrupts drone coordination.
The Ukrainian electronic warfare system developed by Unwave was the only system capable of jamming a UAV during the NATO Baltic Trust 26 exercise in Latvia.
