Hungary, Serbia, and Romania jointly held the BLUE DANUBE exercise on the Danube River near the Romanian port of Calafat.

More than 160 military personnel participated in the exercise. According to the Romanian Navy, the three countries deployed seven vessels, four boats, and two drones.

Romania’s river flotilla included the monitor 46 Ion C. Brătianu and the armored patrol boat 179 Posada from the 67th Artillery Ships Division.

The Pontica Naval Logistics Base also deployed river tugboat 328 from the 325th Logistics Support Section in Tulcea. The 39th Divers Center contributed a boat and a team of combat engineer divers specialized in river operations. The Timișoara Territorial Border Police Inspectorate joined the exercise with the MAI 3060 river patrol boat.

Serbia’s armed forces took part with three military vessels, three boats, and one drone, while Hungary sent personnel to the exercise command center.

The BLUE DANUBE exercise aims to strengthen military cooperation among Romania, Hungary, and Serbia for naval operations on the Danube River.

Over several days, ship and diving units from the participating countries practiced maneuvering, search-and-rescue operations, interception of suspicious vessels, damage control and repair procedures, and ship towing in realistic above-water and underwater scenarios.
