German company Quantum Systems has officially introduced the Pulse P19 multi-role aviation platform. The aircraft combines the capabilities of a manned aircraft and a fully unmanned system.

This was reported on the company’s website and during the ILA International Aerospace Exhibition in Berlin.

Further technical details and project features were provided by chief developer Lars Peter in a comment to hartpunkt.

According to him, the Pulse P19 project is currently at the prototype production stage ahead of future testing.

The company plans to conduct the first flight of the new aircraft in 2027 to test control systems and payload integration.

Initial test flights of the Pulse P19 will be conducted in manned mode with a crew on board. The chief developer said this approach significantly simplifies obtaining flight permits in Germany and will allow faster system certification.

In the final production configuration, switching between manned and unmanned modes will be done via a toggle switch.

The manufacturer is also considering a fully unmanned version without a cockpit, which would reduce costs and increase payload capacity.

The developers cite low operating costs and long endurance as key advantages of the Pulse P19. With additional fuel tanks, the aircraft can operate for 18-20 hours.

The platform is designed to counter long-range kamikaze drones. A radar system is integrated into the lower fuselage, with an electro-optical station installed behind it.

During patrol missions, the system will detect drones using onboard radar and identify targets using optical sensors. All reconnaissance data will be transmitted to a ground operator via the MOSAIC UXS control software. After operator confirmation, the aircraft will engage targets.

The aircraft has a maximum speed of about 670 km/h. For air-defense tasks, it will be armed with pod-mounted machine guns, as well as low-cost missiles and interceptor drones.

The aircraft’s maximum external payload capacity is up to 1,400 kg, with a dry weight of 1,800 kg. It is equipped with six underwing hardpoints, three on each wing, plus additional mounting points on the wingtips.

The two inner hardpoints can carry up to 226.8 kg each, while the outer and wingtip stations are rated for 113.4 kg. The maximum takeoff weight is 4.2 tons, with a total payload capacity of 2,400 kg and a declared range of 1,852 km.
