The first group of Ukrainian helicopter flight instructors has completed training in the United Kingdom.
This was reported on the website of the UK Ministry of Defence.
After completing the relevant course, the pilots will go on to train the next generation of Ukrainian military aviators.
The training took place in Great Britain and concluded in May.
From now on, the training of such instructors will be carried out as part of the Interflex training operation, which is shifting from mass basic general military training to training Ukrainians in specific specialties.
“The new training program will include training for helicopter flight instructors, which the first Ukrainian cadets completed last month…,” the UK Ministry of Defence stated.
The British government announced in February in a statement marking the fourth anniversary of the start of Russia’s full-scale aggression against Ukraine that the first group of Ukrainians was being trained as helicopter flight instructors.
The statement emphasized that this is the first such instance within the framework of military cooperation between the two countries.
In early May Ukrainian cadets had completed initial flight training with the Royal Air Force (RAF), a prerequisite for beginning training on jet fighters.
A significant number of Ukrainian personnel, including pilots and aircraft maintenance technicians, also underwent English language training to improve operational effectiveness.
As a reminder, the drone coalition, jointly led by the UK and Latvia, has supplied Ukraine with over 215,000 drones of various types—FPV drones, interceptors, and reconnaissance UAVs.
In particular, the partners have already transferred 45,000 FPV drones to Ukraine, over 150,000 interceptor drones to shoot down Russian Shahed drones, and 20,000 reconnaissance drones with a range of up to 200 kilometers.
