Ukrainian paratroopers hit Russian invaders with self-guided UAVs in the Donetsk region.
Soldiers of the 79th Air Assault Brigade demonstrated the use of new drones.
Drones are used against the Russian troops, which are attacking Ukrainian positions near Novomykhailivka in the Donetsk region.
The drones were equipped with a guidance system, or “machine vision”.
It enables automatic target acquisition and hit without pilot intervention.
This should significantly increase the effectiveness of the use and assist in circumventing Russian electronic warfare systems.
This solves the problem of communication loss and drone misses: due to terrain features, communication can be lost during descent.
Presumably, the system was installed on a UAV, which will have a more powerful warhead than a conventional FPV drone.
In other words, machine vision solves the main problem of the last section that the drone must overcome to hit the target.
An operator with “machine vision” simply guides the drone to the target.
This technology is not new for drones used in Ukraine. It is reported that the Polish Warmate drone by WB Group already has such a system.
Also, Ukrainian Lyutyi long-range drones are guided to the target with high accuracy due to “machine vision.”
