U.S. Armed Forces personnel will be tested for testosterone levels as part of a new medical screening program.
Pentagon chief Pete Hegseth stated this on the social media platform X.
According to him, military men who have reached the age of 30 will undergo mandatory annual testing for testosterone deficiency during routine medical examinations.
Meanwhile, military personnel under 30 will be able to join the program voluntarily.
Hegseth noted that this program is designed to ensure that service members maintain adequate testosterone levels to sustain maximum combat readiness.
”I’m authorizing a screening program for testosterone deficiency for our service members, ensuring you have the right testosterone levels to operate at your absolute best. As we know, the modern battlefield is brutal and unrelenting. It requires and demands maximum psychological and mental readiness,” the Pentagon chief stated.
In case of hormonal imbalance detection, U.S. military personnel will be offered voluntary treatment, including testosterone replacement therapy.
Hegseth also pointed out that the program is part of the U.S. Department of Defense’s commitment to providing service members with “elite medical care” and maintaining the physical and mental readiness required for modern combat actions.
