Ukrainian Air Force aircraft destroyed a building used by Russian FPV drone operators in the northern sector using high-precision aerial munitions.

Soniashnyk Telegram channel, which is affiliated with Ukrainian aviation, published a video of the strike.

A MiG-29 fighter jet armed with two French AASM Hammer precision-guided bombs executed the attack.

A Ukrainian reconnaissance drone had previously identified the building as a base for Russian drone operators. The drone also recorded a Russian serviceman exiting the building and launching an FPV drone from the courtyard.

After this, Ukrainian defenders requested air support to eliminate the enemy position, as Russian FPV drone operators are considered one of the priority targets on the frontline.

AASM

French AASM precision-guided bombs, which have been supplied to Ukraine since early 2024, are designed – like the American JDAM kits – to upgrade standard Western-style free-fall bombs, turning them into high-precision weapons.

Unlike the JDAM, French AASM kits are distinguished by an integrated rocket motor, which significantly increases their operational range.

Depending on launch conditions, AASM munitions can strike targets at distances of up to 15 km when released from low altitude and up to 70 km when dropped from high altitude.
