On the night of June 2, Russian invaders launched a record number of Iskander-M ballistic missiles to strike Ukraine.

Data from the Ukrainian Air Force confirms this.

In total, during the massive strike on the night of June 2, the invaders launched 33 ballistic missiles from the Bryansk, Kursk, and Rostov regions, as well as from the temporarily occupied Crimea.

The main target of the strike was Kyiv. Dnipro, Zaporizhzhia, and Kharkiv were also under ballistic missile attack.

In addition, the Russians deployed 8 hypersonic Zircon missiles, 27 X-101 cruise missiles, and 5 Kalibr missiles, as well as 656 UAVs of various types, mostly Shaheds. To distract Ukrainian air defenses, the enemy also used decoy drones.

The air attack was repelled by aviation, anti-aircraft missile forces, electronic warfare units, Unmanned Systems Forces, and mobile fire groups of the Ukrainian Defense Forces.

According to preliminary data, as of 08:30, air defense forces had shot down or neutralized 642 targets—40 missiles and 602 drones of various types.

In particular, 11 Iskander-M ballistic missiles, 26 Kh-101 cruise missiles, and 3 Kalibr missiles were intercepted. Defenders also shot down 602 enemy UAVs of various types.

“As of 08:30 a.m., 30 ballistic missiles, 3 cruise missiles, and 33 attack UAVs were recorded hitting 38 locations, as well as the fall of downed (debris) UAVs at 15 locations,” the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported.

Currently, four deaths have been reported in Kyiv and nine in Dnipro, with dozens more people injured. Residential buildings and civilian infrastructure have been damaged in the cities.

Previously, there had been no official reports of the Russians using such a large number of ballistic missiles in a single attack. According to the Air Force, on February 3 alone, the Russians fired 32 missiles on ballistic trajectories; however, it was noted at the time that some were anti-aircraft missiles from S-300/S-400 systems, which the Russians occasionally use to strike ground targets.

For example, throughout January 2026, the Russians fired 91 ballistic missiles at Ukraine, marking the highest monthly figure since the start of the full-scale war.
