Ukraine has used its own FP-7 tactical ballistic missile, manufactured by Fire Point, in combat for the first time.
This was announced by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, who also released a video of the missile launch.
“Ukrainian tactical ballistic missile. FP-7. First combat use. Thank you for the result,” Zelensky said.
The president stated that following its successful combat use, the missile is set to enter production.
The missile is designed for the rapid engagement of targets at medium ranges.
Fire Point first announced the development of its own FP-7 and FP-9 ballistic missiles at a press conference during the MSPO international exhibition in September 2025 in Poland.
The FP-7 ballistic missile has a range of up to 200 km, a maximum speed of 1,500 m/s, and a circular error probability of 14 meters.
Its payload will be 150 kg, and its maximum flight duration will be 250 seconds.
In Februaryi 2026, Fire Point conducted flight tests of the new FP-7 tactical ballistic missile.
To launch the missiles, the company does not use a specialized launcher based on a multi-axle truck chassis which is standard for such systems, but, similar to the FP-5 cruise missiles, a conventional rail guide mounted on a trailer.
As part of the Freyja project, an interceptor designed to shoot down ballistic missiles is also being developed based on this missile.
The missile’s relatively low cost is expected to be one of the advantages of Freyja compared to the use of expensive American interceptor missiles.
