On the night of October 10, Ukrainian drones struck a railway bridge in the Vygonitsky district of Russia’s Bryansk region. The strike damaged the railroad tracks.
This was announced by the governor of the Bryansk region, Yegor Kovalchuk.
Due to the damage, rail service on the Bryansk–Unecha–Gomel route has been disrupted.
Trains on certain sections have been replaced by buses, and the Moscow–Novozybkov train will run to the Bryansk-Orlovsky station.
The Governor reported that the Moscow–Adler train will be rerouted via Smolensk to Bryansk-Orlovsky Station and back.
Meanwhile, commuter trains will run to Vygonichi Station, from where passengers will be transported by bus.
Kovalchuk noted that the timeline for restoring rail service on this section will be determined after Russian Railways (RZD) employees inspect the tracks.
It is known that the Ukrainian Defense Forces are using drones to strike the aggressor country’s railway infrastructure. In particular, on September 28, in several districts of the Bryansk and Kaluga regions of Russia, drone attacks damaged the tracks and caused dozens of railcars to derail.
On the Dyatkovo–Lyudinovo section between the Bryansk and Kaluga regions, part of a railway bridge collapsed after being struck by a drone. Due to the structural damage, 10 freight train cars derailed.
Another incident occurred in the Unetsky district of the Bryansk region, where a drone attack also caused a railway accident. As a result of damage to the tracks, 18 empty flatcars derailed.
In addition, railway infrastructure in the Navlinsky district of the Bryansk region was struck. There, damage to the railroad tracks was recorded as a result of the attack.
On the night of September 29, unknown individuals damaged the railroad tracks while a train was traveling from Smolensk to Bryansk on the Trosna–Rzhanitsa section. It can be ruled out that members of the resistance movement in Russia may have been involved in the damage to the tracks.
