Polish Defense Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz emphasized the importance of ensuring security and strengthening cooperation among NATO countries, and condemned attempts to oppose the Alliance to the European Union.

He stated this at the Defence24 Day conference, a Militarnyi reporter notes.

The event, which brought together over 40 official delegations and nearly 5,000 participants, became a platform for discussing important security issues, military strategies, and international solidarity.

Wladyslav Kosiniak-Kamysz expressed support for solidarity with Allies and partners in the Alliance, emphasizing the importance of military and civilian efforts to ensure peace and stability in Europe.

“We reaffirm all the commitments of the Republic of Poland under the North Atlantic Treaty, particularly Article 5,” he said in his speech.

The Minister also argued that Poland plans to increase defense spending, investing over 4% of GDP per year in the military.

Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz noted the key role of the United States, saying that without the statements of the Trump administration, in particular the head of the Department of Defense, there would be no changes in Germany, Spain, and other countries.

At the same time, he noted that European investment in defense is not an alternative to NATO, but its strengthening.

Answering the question about the security strategy, the Minister noted three main pillars for building a strong defense:

  • strong society
  • strong army
  • strong alliances

He emphasized that Poland remains committed to its obligations to NATO, particularly Article 5 of the North Atlantic Treaty, which provides for mutual defense in the event of aggression against one of the members.

“Being in NATO means solidarity. In Poland, we know the meaning of this word well,” he said, emphasizing the importance of mutual support within the Alliance.

According to him, Poland always provides assistance to its allies and expects solidarity in return.
