Ukrainian USVs Sank Russian Container Ship and Struck Oil Tanker

In the Black Sea, Ukrainian maritime drones struck two vessels involved in the logistics and export of Russian resources.

Rosatom reported the sinking of the container ship, and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky published a video of the attack on the oil tanker.

The Russian container ship Yanina, owned by FESCO, a subsidiary of the state-owned corporation Rosatom, sank.

The attack on the vessel took place on the night of August 1, 130 nautical miles from Novorossiysk, using two maritime drones.

In addition to the container ship, the oil tanker BOURDA, which was heading to the Russian port of Taman, was also struck.

According to War & Sanctions, the vessel flies the Liberian flag and belongs to Russia’s shadow fleet.

The tanker is involved in the export of Russian crude oil from Urals trade mark and petroleum products during the oil embargo.

The shipments were made from Russian ports on the Baltic and Black Seas to third countries on behalf of Rosneft and Surgutneftegas.

Specifically, in February 2025 and May 2025, the tanker transported oil from the port of Ust-Luga to India for Rosneft.

In July of that same year, the vessel transported Russian petroleum products from Ust-Luga to Egypt, and in September and November—to the UAE and Singapore on behalf of Surgutneftegas.

In February 2026, the tanker BOURDA made another voyage to export petroleum products from the Russian port of Taman to Singapore.

On February 21 of this year, Ukraine imposed personal sanctions against the captain of this vessel.f
