PETRUS Plant Catches Fire After Drone Attack on Moscow Region

After a morning attack by Ukrainian strike drones on the Moscow region, a warehouse facility at the PETRUS plant caught fire in the city of Noginsk.

The Russian outlet Incidentia reported the incident.

Moscow Region Governor Andrey Vorobyov said that at least 56 UAVs had been destroyed over the region overnight. Local residents reported hearing explosions in the sky, and later saw smoke and a fire in the area of the PETRUS plant.

The joint-stock company PETRUS produced plastic products that were purchased by the Federal State Unitary Enterprise “Canning Plant” of Russia’s Federal Penitentiary Service. Overall, the company entered into 15 contracts worth more than 21.5 million rubles.

Industrial enterprises and FSIN penal colonies across Russia are widely involved in producing individual food rations (field rations), as well as canned meat and vegetables.

However, the exact cause of the fire is currently unknown. There is also no confirmation that the facility itself was among the targets of the Ukrainian Defense Forces’ attack.

It is possible that the fire was caused by falling debris from a downed drone or by the operation of Russian air defense or electronic warfare systems.

JSC PETRUS supplies these enterprises with plastic containers, lids, and polymer film for packaging food products, which it then ships on an industrial scale to supply Russian military formations.

Militarnyi previously reported that Ukrainian strike drones targeted DNS and Ozon warehouse facilities in Russia’s Rostov region.
