In 2026, NATO countries plan to provide Ukraine with $60 billion in military aid.

Patrick Turner, Head of the NATO Representation to Ukraine, announced this in an interview with Suspilne.

NATO also intends to strengthen cooperation with Ukraine’s defense industry by leveraging its experience and innovations.

Turner noted that four aid packages have already been announced under the PURL initiative.

“The assistance under these packages has either already been delivered or is still in the process of being sent to Ukraine. We are actively working on organizing and funding the next packages, so there is already tangible progress. This is a long-term and large-scale initiative, so the overall amount of support will be significant,” the diplomat stated.

He noted that this is a key element of the overall military assistance to Ukraine provided by NATO allies.

According to him, in 2024, the Alliance member countries provided Ukraine with more than $50 billion in military aid.

“The final figures for this year have not yet been determined. The Ukrainian government has informed its partners, including NATO, that in 2026 the country’s total defence budget will amount to $120 billion, half of which will be financed by Ukraine and half by international partners. So the PURL initiative is a very important part of this overall support, although the total assistance is not limited to it,” he noted.

Turner also mentioned defence cooperation between Ukraine and NATO countries.

“NATO wants to work with Ukrainian industry and its innovations. We need to learn or study how this is done – how you move from creating a capability concept to getting weapons into use on the battlefield within weeks. We need to learn to do that; it is very important,” the diplomat said.

The NATO representative also noted that another priority is providing non-lethal assistance to Ukraine.

In addition, according to the diplomat, a joint center operates in Poland that focuses on studying and implementing combat experience and helping to counter threats on the battlefield.
