Drones attacked Russia’s Azot chemical plant in Novomoskovsk of the Tula region, which manufactures, among other products, components used in explosives.
The Exilenova+ and Astra Telegram channels reported the attack.
The large-scale drone strike took place overnight between June 25 and 26. Local residents filmed drones flying overhead and said explosions could be heard for several hours.
Afterward, local residents reported smelling ammonia in the air and experiencing power outages.
Later, the regional governor confirmed that an industrial facility in Novomoskovsk had been damaged and also reported damage to power transmission lines.
NASA’s FIRMS service detected a fire at the Novomoskovsk Thermal Power Plant, which is a subsidiary of the Azot chemical plant and is located adjacent to the facility.
The plant has an installed electrical capacity of 233.7 MW and a thermal capacity of 302.4 Gcal/h. It employs 366 people.
The Azot chemical plant in Novomoskovsk, the Tula region, is one of Russia’s largest chemical industry enterprises.
The facility specializes in the production of nitrogen fertilizers, including ammonia, urea, and other chemical products. It is part of the EuroChemholding company.
In addition, the plant manufactures chemical components used in the production of explosives at Russian factories.
One of the previous Ukrainian drone attacks on the Azot plant took place on the night of June 13–14, 2026. A fire broke out on the plant’s premises following that attack.
Subsequent satellite imagery confirmed damage to the grounds of the Russian chemical plant. An industrial building of unknown purpose was destroyed, and the Ammonia-4 production units were damaged. A storage tank at the old dilute nitric acid production workshop was also destroyed.
