Germany Detains Latvian National for Attempted Arson at Skyeton Factory in Slovakia

German police have arrested one of the suspects in the attempted arson of the Skyeton UAV manufacturing plant in Slovakia.

This was reported by Der Spiegel.

The suspect in the sabotage is a 26-year-old Latvian citizen.

As confirmed by a spokeswoman for the Hamburg Public Prosecutor’s Office, the suspect was arrested on August 25 pursuant to a warrant issued by a Slovak court.

Slovakia is seeking his extradition. The Latvian citizen is currently in custody in Germany.

According to an investigation by Slovak security forces, the man detained in Hamburg was planning the arson together with another Latvian national and a Ukrainian citizen.

In parallel with the police operation in Hamburg, his alleged accomplices were also detained in Slovakia.

The Office for the Fight Against Organised Crime (ÚBOK) noted that during a search of the two detainees, a significant amount of an incendiary mixture, tools, cell phones, an action camera, and a handwritten plan were seized.

On August 25, Slovak police thwarted a planned arson attack on the Skyeton manufacturing plant in Prešov, where UAVs are produced.

A Skyeton representative told Militarnyi that Russians regularly attempt to attack companies that do business with Ukraine.

“According to preliminary data, there may have been about 70 employees in the building at the time of the attack. The value of the property in the production hall amounts to tens of millions of euros,” the Slovak police stated.

The Ukrainian company Skyeton, which manufactures ACS-3 (Raybird-3) reconnaissance systems, launched production in Slovakia in 2024.
