Ukraine will receive an additional 15,000 long-range artillery shells from Denmark as part of a military aid package, with some of the ammunition already delivered.
Announcing the assistance, Mykhailo Fedorov, Ukraine’s Defense Minister, said Kyiv had asked Denmark to adjust part of its planned military support by reallocating funds from short-range ammunition to long-range artillery shells. Denmark agreed to the proposal, enabling the delivery of additional long-range munitions needed on the battlefield.
“Today, long-range munitions are among the frontline’s most critical needs. As the enemy’s drone kill zone continues to expand, these rounds allow us to strike enemy forces, logistics hubs, and command posts more effectively while reducing risks to our troops,” the Minister stated.
Mykhailo Fedorov thanked Denmark for its swift communication and willingness to adapt military assistance to the actual needs of Ukraine’s Defense Forces on the battlefield.
“These are exactly the kinds of decisions that allow us to rapidly strengthen the capabilities of Ukraine’s Defense Forces where they are needed most,” the Minister said.
Earlier this month, Mykhailo Fedorov announced that Norway would also fund the purchase of long-range artillery ammunition to help meet the urgent needs of Ukrainian troops fighting on the front lines.
In late May, it was reported that the Czech ammunition initiative for Ukraine had lost half of its international backers, reducing the number of donor countries supporting the program from 18 to 9.
