Denmark will become the first country to host the joint production of Ukraine’s long-range drones and missiles outside Ukraine, President Volodymyr Zelensky stated on Friday after talks with Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen in The Hague.
The leaders discussed expanding defense cooperation and manufacturing, both in Ukraine and Denmark.
“Denmark will also be the first country with which we will launch joint production of long-range drones and missiles abroad,” Zelensky mentioned, without specifying the weapon models involved.
Zelensky’s office added that Denmark plans to allocate €1.26 billion this year to support drone production for Ukraine.
On Thursday, Ukraine’s Defense Minister Rustem Umierov and Danish Defense Minister Troels Lund Poulsen signed a letter of intent under the Build with Ukraine initiative to establish Ukrainian weapons manufacturing in Denmark.
Denmark has already earmarked DKK 500 million to establish the production line. Ukraine’s defense ministry said the project will bolster the Armed Forces of Ukraine by enhancing joint defense capacity, securing supply chains, and deepening technology exchange between the two countries.
