Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov and Danish Defense Minister Troels Lund Poulsen have signed a letter of intent regarding the launch of Ukrainian weapons production on Danish territory.
The press service of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine reported on this.
The document marks the first step in implementing the Build with Ukraine initiative, which was launched by the Ukrainian side during the previous meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group in the Ramstein-format.
Denmark has already allocated DKK 500 million to launch defense production.
All capacities created within this project will work to strengthen the Ukrainian Defense Forces.
The Ministry of Defense emphasizes that this strategic decision enhances joint defense capabilities, strengthens supply chains, and opens new opportunities for technology exchange and integration of the defense sectors of Ukraine and Denmark.
“Thank you to the Danish government for its trust, consistent support of Ukraine, and readiness to develop a deep partnership between our countries,” Umierov noted.
Militarnyi reported the signing of agreements under the Build with Ukraine program as early as June 21.
In addition to developing artillery capabilities, the program includes plans to launch production of drones and missiles.
President Zelensky emphasized that none of the technologies should fall into the hands of countries sympathetic to Russia — Ukraine will not cooperate with such states.
Moreover, it is reported that Ukraine has attracted $43 billion in investments into its own defense industry.
Now Kyiv is urging international partners to allocate 0.25% of their GDP annually to support the Ukrainian defense industry.
