In the Democratic Republic of Congo, an attempted attack on Kisangani Airport was recorded, likely using Baykar YIHA-III drones.

According to information from War Noir on X, the attack is linked to the activities of the M23 (March 23 Movement) armed group.

It is also known that the drones were shot down before reaching the airport, which prevented damage to the infrastructure.

According to available information, YIHA-III drones are designed and manufactured in Turkey by Baykar, as well as in Pakistan. However, the company has never officially confirmed this.

Their purpose is to strike stationary and lightly defended targets at distances of several hundred kilometers.

No official confirmation of the type of drones used has been released yet; the information is based on open reports.

Kisangani Airport is of strategic importance and is used as a major logistics hub in the region.

The use of drones in an area far from the main combat zones indicates an expansion of M23 tactics.

According to experts, the incident demonstrates the growing role of strike UAVs in regional conflicts in Africa.
