Ukraine has received all 1.8 million pieces of artillery ammunition that the Czech Republic promised to supply as part of the Czech Initiative.
This was announced by former Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala.
“This year, I promised to deliver 1,800,000 units of large-caliber ammunition to Ukraine’s defenders. I am pleased to confirm that today we have fulfilled this goal,” the politician said.
The Czech Initiative has been implemented since April 2024. The program provides for the purchase of shells in third countries and their delivery to Ukraine.
The first batch purchased under this scheme was delivered in June last year.

The initiative was presented at the Munich Security Conference on February 20, 2024. At that time, Pavel announced the possibility of purchasing 800,000 shells.
The goal of the program is to promptly provide the Ukrainian Armed Forces with ammunition, overcoming legal restrictions in a number of donor countries.
AMOS, the Czech Republic’s Agency for International Defence Cooperation, coordinates the requests and purchases.
Private companies look for available batches of ammunition, and donors decide which ones to fund.
In 2024, Ukraine received about 1.6 million artillery shells of various calibers.
It is worth noting that the Czech political party ANO, which won the elections to the Chamber of Deputies (the lower house of Parliament), does not plan to cancel the initiative to supply ammunition to Ukraine.
The party’s leader, Andrej Babiš, called the initiative “a good idea in general,” although he said it needs more transparency and possibly to be placed under NATO control.
