Strike drones have targeted the Stavrolen petrochemical plant in Russia’s Stavropol Krai, igniting a fire, according to the outlet Astra.
Located in the city of Budyonnovsk, the plant is one of Russia’s largest petrochemical facilities and ranks second nationwide in low-pressure polyethylene production.
Although the plant presents its products as being exclusively for civilian use, in reality, such enterprises are also involved in producing polyethylene for military purposes – primarily for insulating components and wire casings in drones, missiles, electronic warfare systems, and other equipment.
In addition, despite clear evidence of the plant being hit, local authorities denied any such incident, stating:
“Today, the enemy attempted to attack the industrial zone of the city of Budyonnovsk with combat drones. Electronic warfare systems and air defenses neutralized the hostile UAVs. The attack caused no significant damage, and there were no casualties or destruction,” Stavropol Krai Governor Vladimir Vladimirov wrote.
As Astra notes, in 2021, the company produced its eight-millionth ton of polyethylene. The plant is located at coordinates 44.818178, 44.129159, about 300 km from Ukraine’s state border and approximately 450 km from Ukrainian-controlled territory.
Militarnyi previously reported that on October 21, 2025, Ukraine’s defense forces performed an attack on a chemical plant in the Bryansk region.
