The Russian army is actively applying Iranian-made unmanned aerial vehicles in the war with Ukraine.
Yesterday, the invaders massively used Shahed-136 kamikaze drones.
At least one of these UAVs was shot down in the Dnipropetrovsk region.
Eyewitnesses posted a video featuring the destruction of the drone on social networks. It was neutralized by the Ukrainian Air Defence Forces.
The Air Force Command of the Ukrainian Armed Forces reported that in the afternoon on September 23, the Russian invaders attacked Ukraine with Iranian-made Shahed-136 kamikaze drones in the eastern and southern directions.
“As of 6:30 p.m., six kamikaze drones were shot down by anti-aircraft missile units,” the statement reads.
As previously reported, yesterday, the invaders attacked Odesa with Shahed-136 kamikaze drones. Two drones destroyed the administration building, one UAV was shot down by the Ukrainian military.
Shahed-136 UAV is a loitering munition, which was renamed Geran-2 by the Russians. These loitering munitions created new dangers for Ukrainian troops.
The drone has a total length of about three meters and a wingspan of just over two meters.
The weight of its combat unit is 40-50 kilograms.
Such a drone flies at an altitude from 60 to 4,000 meters with a cruising speed of about 180km/h. The UAV has a loud MD 550 or 3W engine, so the kamikaze drone can be heard in kilometers.
The drone can be destroyed by any means of air defense, and detected by radars. Iran manufactures these UAVs for mass use for one or multiple purposes.
Yesterday, the Ukrainian military for the first time shot down Iranian Mohajer-6 drone used by Russians.
