In Poland, two new combined arms divisions will be formed, which will be stationed along the Vistula River, in the central region of the country.
This was announced by Polish Defense Minister Mariusz Błaszczak.
The war in Ukraine convinced the Polish military command that the Polish army should be able to independently defend the country from the first day of the potential war.
Also, to be able to defend the country on the basis of its own defense potential.
Mariusz Błaszczak said that the goal for the Polish army was to have six tactical formations that would have adequate supply.
“Poland needs a large, well-equipped and modern army, capable of independently defending the borders,” said Błaszczak.
Further development of the Polish Armed Forces will be outlined in the new document of the Ministry of Defense “Model 2035.”
Earlier that day, Błaszczak announced that the Polish arms group and the South Korean company Hyundai Rotem had signed a memorandum on joint development and production of tanks and wheeled armored vehicles.
“The Polish army must have modern equipment,” Błaszczak wrote, adding that it was one of the topics of his negotiations with Hyundai Rotem officials during his visit to South Korea in early June.
At the time, Błaszczak stated that the Polish Army should quickly acquire Korean military equipment, and added that its negotiations in South Korea concerned the purchase of Korean К2 battle tanks, their production and joint development in Poland.
By the autumn of 2019, the number of Polish ground forces was 205 thousand soldiers.
There were four divisions and six brigades in the Ground Forces of Poland.
