Ukrainian Defense Forces strike drones successfully targeted the Yaroslavl oil refinery in the city of Yaroslavl.

The attack on the region was reported by the region’s governor, Mikhail Yevrayev.

A drone alert was issued across the region at 1:25 a.m. Kyiv time.

Later, closer to 4:00 a.m., local residents began reporting explosions and posting photos and videos showing a fire at the oil refinery.

The authorities did not officially acknowledge that the refinery had been hit, stating only that there had been attempts to attack the region.

The refinery produces a wide range of petroleum products, including gasoline, jet fuel, and lubricants.

Its customers include virtually all major industrial enterprises in Russia’s Central and Northwestern regions, as well as airports, the Northern Railway Administration, and facilities associated with the country’s defense-industrial complex.

Slavneft-YANOS is the largest oil refinery in Russia’s Central Federal District. Its facilities have the capacity to process up to 15 million tonnes of crude oil per year.

The refinery has been targeted by Ukrainian drones on multiple occasions. Previous strikes were reported on June 28, 2026, May 1922, and May 13 and 8.

The refinery was also targeted on April 26 and March 28 of this year. Slavneft-YANOS is located in Yaroslavl, more than 700 kilometers from Ukraine’s border, at coordinates 57.55016, 39.79176.

Militarnyi previously reported that on July 4, 2026, Ukrainian Defense Forces strike drones hit the St. Petersburg Oil Terminal, a major oil storage and handling facility at the Port of St. Petersburg.

The terminal is situated on the southeastern shore of the Gulf of Finland, within the Fourth District of the Big Port of St. Petersburg, about 17 kilometers from the city center.

The facility covers an area of approximately 37 hectares and has an annual handling capacity of 10–12.5 million tonnes of light and dark petroleum products.
