During a visit by a Ukrainian parliamentary delegation to Raufoss, Nammo CEO Morten Brandtzaeg apologized for the slow increase in production capacity.

VG reported on this.

He described the pace of producing weapons needed by Ukraine as slow and said the situation poses a risk to the security of both countries.

According to the CEO, bureaucratic delays and slow decision-making are preventing the company from responding quickly to the demands of what he described as an industrial-scale war.

To expand production at facilities in Europe and the United States, the company urgently needs NOK 10 billion, of which 7 billion is planned for investment in Raufoss, Norway.

Although the board has approved an investment plan worth NOK 12 billion, the company’s own resources are insufficient to fully meet demand. The Ukrainian delegation also inspected a new rocket engine production workshop, which has become the plant’s third production line.

Nammo’s management expects demand to continue growing and plans to launch fourth and fifth production lines in the coming years. The expansion would significantly increase staffing, with about 1,000 new employees expected to join the current workforce of 2,500.

Norwegian company Nammo is the sole supplier of rocket motors for NASAMS and IRIS-T air defense systems and is also expanding production lines for 155 mm artillery shells and drone ammunition.

The Nammo (Nordic Ammunition Company) defense company is a Norwegian-Finnish group specializing in the development and production of ammunition, rocket motors and other weapons systems.

The company was established in 1998 through the merger of key defense assets from three Scandinavian countries. It is jointly owned by the Norwegian Ministry of Trade and Industry and the Finnish company Patria. Nammo is headquartered in Raufoss and operates production facilities and research centers in more than 10 countries, including the United States, Germany, and the United Kingdom.

The company produces a wide range of ammunition, from small arms cartridges to 155 mm artillery shells. It holds a niche position as a European supplier of rocket motors for key air defense systems.

In addition, the company manufactures M72 LAW anti-tank weapons and components for Sidewinder and AMRAAM air-to-air missiles.

Militarnyi previously reported that Nammo and a Ukrainian defense enterprise had signed a strategic cooperation agreement.
