The soldiers of the 80th Air Assault Brigade ‘Halychyna’ of the Ukrainian Air Assault Forces have received American M2 Bradley infantry fighting vehicles for their arsenal.
The brigade’s press service reported on this.
With the widespread use of drones, the deployment of M2s on the front line has become limited.
Therefore, in the arsenal of the 80th Air Assault Brigade ‘Halychyna’, this equipment is used selectively – only when necessary.
To protect against enemy drones, the fighting vehicle has been additionally equipped with heavy protective structures, known among soldiers as ‘grills.’
“I read that during Operation Desert Storm in Iraq, also known as the Gulf War, the Bradley IFVs proved to be very effective. I hope that during our war, something will soon be invented to counter fiber-optic drones. Then this vehicle will once again show its worth,” says Ruslan, the vehicle’s commander.
Previously, the 81st Airmobile Brigade ‘Bukovyna’ also received these fighting vehicles.
The M2 Bradley IFV is a versatile ‘soldier’ on the battlefield.
Its M242 Bushmaster 25mm gun can penetrate most Russian armored vehicles and is capable of both single shots and devastating bursts at a rate of up to 500 rounds per minute.
Ukraine has received these fighting vehicles as part of military aid from the United States.
