Ukraine Struck Ozon Warehouse for the First Time and Attacked an Oil Refinery in Samara Region

Drones operated by the Ukrainian Defense Forces struck the Ozon logistics complex in Chapaevsk for the first time and hit the Novokuybyshevsk Oil Refinery in the Samara Region of the Russian Federation.

This was reported by the Astra news outlet.

The attack took place on the morning of August 22, 2026. The strikes caused fires to break out at both sites.

The strike on the logistics warehouse caused a massive fire, which, as of 7:30 a.m., had engulfed most of the complex’s territory.

The total area of the Chapaevsk logistics complex is 135,000 square meters. It opened in late October 2022 and became one of the company’s newest warehouses.

The complex is located at coordinates 52.960713, 49.745755, near two defense-related enterprises—the Chapaev Mechanical Plant, which manufactures industrial explosives, and the Promsintez enterprise.

In addition, drones attacked the Novokuybyshevsk Petrochemical Company. Photos and videos from the scene show at least three fires, with thick plumes of smoke rising above them.

Novokuybyshevsk Petrochemical Company JSC is one of the largest producers of gas processing, petrochemical, and organic synthesis products in Russia and Eastern Europe.

The plant processes more than 1 million metric tons of raw materials per year. Its product range includes more than 30–50 types of products, including liquefied gases, MTBE, benzene, phenol, acetone, alpha-methylstyrene, and olefins. The plant is located approximately 700–1,000 km from Ukraine’s state border.

In addition, the company remains the sole producer of synthetic ethanol and para-tert-butylphenol (PTBF) in Russia. It also operates the country’s only synthetic ethanol production line on its premises.

The company is one of Russia’s leading manufacturers of components for explosives.

The Novokuybyshevsk Petrochemical Company was last attacked by drones on April 23, 2026. On that occasion, a methyl-tert-amyl ether production unit on the plant’s grounds was hit.
