Volunteers from Slovakia and the Czech Republic, as part of the Munícia pre Ukrajinu (Ammunition for Ukraine) initiative, have purchased 122mm artillery shells for Ukrainian troops.

The Slovak outlet Future Army reported on this.

The civic initiative has already purchased a third batch of ammunition for Ukrainian soldiers using funds from Slovak and Czech volunteers.

This time, 254 122mm artillery shells were purchased for a total of €397,169. The photo shows ammunition manufactured by the Slovak defense company MSM Group.

Martin Ondráček, a representative of the Dárek pro Putina (Gift for Putin) initiative, emphasized that “the purchase of artillery shells was made based on specific requests from the Ukrainian side and in accordance with the current needs of the army on the front lines.”

The public fundraising campaign Ammunition for Ukraine was launched in April 2024 in response to the refusal of Robert Fico’s government to join the Czech initiative to supply ammunition and selflessly support Ukraine.

In a short time, the moderators managed to raise over €4 million. Of this amount, €4.4 million have already been used to purchase ammunition for Ukraine. 2,700 122 mm artillery shells have already been delivered, and 5,500 grenades for grenade launchers, worth €400,000, will be delivered in the near future.

“Ukraine can no longer rely on its overseas allies as it once did. That’s why even greater responsibility falls on us, Europeans, to help it in its fight against the aggressor. Ukrainians are fighting not only for their own freedom, but also for our shared European values and our security,” said Lucia Štaselová from the “Peace for Ukraine” project.

Previously, the Prague City Hall also launched an initiative to transfer vehicles from impound lots—those unclaimed by their owners—to the Ukrainian army.

Czech Radio reported that the vehicles would be handed over through the Czech Neohnuti charity organization, which had long been helping Ukraine. Volunteers find vehicles, repair them, and modify them to meet military needs.

“They will be converted into ambulances or even all-terrain buggies,” the publication reported.

These are vehicles taken from the streets of Prague that have been placed for years at the central impound lot in the Dubeč area.
