A ceremony marking the launch of the largest multi-role combat vessel in Singapore’s naval history was held at the ST Engineering Marine Benoi Shipyard.

Naval News reported the development.

The new MRCV Victory is the largest and most capable warship ever built for the Republic of Singapore Navy.

It is the first of six next-generation vessels designed to replace the aging Victory-class corvettes that have been in service since 1989.

The Victory has a displacement of approximately 8,300 tons, a hull length of around 150 meters, and an integrated full-electric propulsion (IFEP) system.

High automation levels will allow the ship to operate with a crew of fewer than 100, and its endurance enables it to remain at sea for over three weeks, covering more than 7,000 nautical miles without refueling.

In terms of armament, the vessel is equipped with a vertical launch system for MBDA Aster B1 NT and VL MICA NG surface-to-air missiles, providing layered air defense, as well as Blue Spear anti-ship missiles jointly developed by Israel’s IAI and Singapore’s ST Engineering.

Its main 76 mm Leonardo Strales gun and remotely operated Rafael Typhoon Mk 30-C weapon stations enhance its firepower. The combat system integrates the latest Thales SeaFire AESA radar, the Safran PASEO XLR electro-optical system, and a Swedish-made Saab Kockums composite mast.

One of the ship’s key features is its modular design. A large central mission bay can accommodate up to eight interchangeable modules, supporting missions ranging from mine countermeasures and reconnaissance to humanitarian assistance and disaster relief.

This allows the Victory to operate not only as a combat vessel but also as a flexible maritime platform. Another major innovation is its full integration of unmanned systems.

The ship can serve as a mothership for aerial, surface, and underwater drones, launching and recovering them directly from the vessel to conduct surveillance, reconnaissance, or even strike missions at extended ranges.

Militarnyi previously reported that Singapore’s Ministry of Defense ordered new patrol vessels from the German company Fassmer GmbH.
