Russian commanders reportedly sent soldiers on a mission that resulted in deaths and capture in the village of Novoselivka so they could quickly display a Russian flag for a drone camera.
The incident was described by Ukraine’s 92nd Assault Brigade and 61st Mechanized Brigade.
On June 28, the Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation published a video showing several soldiers from the Vostok Battalion entering the village of Novoselivka in the Zaporizhzhia region.
According to the Ukrainian brigades, the soldiers were then attacked by Ukrainian drones and infantry, which captured one of the ‘flag bearers’ from Russia’s 38th Separate Guards Motor Rifle Brigade.
“The hopelessness of the Russians was especially evident when our drone flew right up to an occupier carrying a Russian tricolor flag. He didn’t even try to run or hide because he already understood that he was doomed,” the brigade said.
The Ukrainian General Staff reported on June 29 that Russian occupying forces carried out 30 attacks in the Huliaipole sector.
The attacks were carried out near Dobropillia and Zaliznychne, as well as in the direction of the settlements of Vozdvyzhivka, Hirske, Novoselivka, Tsvitkove, and Charivne.
