The Russian military has received a batch of Pantsir air defense systems in two variants from the High-Precision Systems holding.
This was reported on the company’s official Telegram page.
The systems are said to have successfully passed testing, while military acceptance representatives confirmed that they are ready for service.
The systems include mobile Pantsir-S missile-and-gun systems, as well as stationary Pantsir-SMD systems, which are used to intercept various air targets.
The exact number of complexes transferred to the Russian occupation forces has not been specified. The last time such systems were transferred was in March.
The Pantsir combines missile and gun armament in a single system. For engaging targets at short range, it is equipped with two twin-barrel 30 mm 2A38M automatic cannons, which have a combined rate of fire of up to 5,000 rounds per minute and an effective range of up to 4 km.
The missile armament consists of 12 two-stage 57E6 solid-fuel missiles with radio-command guidance. In the baseline version, the missiles have an engagement range of 1.2 to 20 km and up to 15 km in altitude.
Unlike the Pantsir-S, the combat module of this system is not equipped with 30 mm automatic cannons.
The Pantsir-SMD ammunition load includes two types of anti-aircraft missiles: 12 standard missiles with an interception range of up to 20 km, or 48 TKB-1055 anti-drone missiles with a range of up to 7 km and an interception altitude of up to 5 km. These missile types can also be combined in different configurations.
In May 2026, the Russians installed such systems on the roofs of civilian buildings in Moscow to protect themselves from attacks by Ukrainian long-range UAVs.
At present, the Pantsir-S remains one of the enemy’s most effective weapons for intercepting drones and missiles. However, Russian attempts to cover all strategic directions are not always successful.
