As of August 2026, Russia had amassed approximately 6,200 Geran kamikaze drones of various versions.

This information was provided to Militarnyi by the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine (DIU) of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine.

Russia is stockpiling these drones to carry out massive combined strikes on Ukrainian territory. At the same time, limited production capacity prevents Russian forces from maintaining a consistently high launch rate.

Russia is forced to stockpile a significant number of attack drones ahead of large-scale attacks.

The largest-scale strikes may involve 600–1,000 drones, whereas during periods of buildup, Russian forces typically launch about 150–200 drones per attack, with the maximum number reaching approximately 300 drones.

Over the 24-hour period from May 13 to May 14, the enemy launched approximately 1,600 drones of various types.

Militarnyi has previously reported that this year Russia set new records for the number of drones launched against Ukraine—up to 6,000–6,500 units.

A similarly high monthly figure of over 6,000 units was recorded in July 2025.

Given that the enemy produces approximately 3,000 Geran-4 and Geran-5 drones per month—excluding the Geran-2 variant—Russia is still unable to carry out high-intensity launches throughout the entire month.

This creates certain opportunities for Ukraine’s air defense forces to prepare for large-scale air raids. In addition to UAVs, Russia also actively uses guided aerial bombs.

During January 2026, the Russian Air Force deployed a record number of aerial bombs — 5,717.

From January 1 through January 31, the occupiers launched an average of 184 bombs each day.
