Canadian armored vehicle manufacturer Roshel has launched production in Ukraine.
Romash Shimonov, the company’s CEO, announced this at the “Protecting the Future of Ukraine: Security Guarantees and Mine Action for Recovery and Reconstruction” conference, Ukrinform reports.
“We have completed the planning stage and have already launched production facilities in Ukraine. The company was opened two months ago and is now actively working,” Shimonov said.
He added that he did not disclose the plant’s location due to security concerns. He doesn’t want it to become a target for another Russian attack.
According to Roshel’s CEO, by setting up production in Ukraine, the company gained access to a unique labor resource.
“We got incredible people who have the abilities, knowledge, and experience that can be implemented in real solutions. You can’t find this anywhere else,” Shimonov emphasized.
The expansion of Canadian Roshel’s activities in Ukraine follows the signing of an agreement with the Ukrainian Defense Industry Joint Stock Company in February 2025 on the joint production of armored vehicles.
As part of the agreement, one of the Ukrainian companies was to receive the necessary technical documentation and components required for the production of the vehicles.
Production facilities in Ukraine should reduce logistical delays, strengthen the domestic industry, and provide timely technical support for Roshel armored vehicles in the Defense Forces.
Some Ukrainian defense industry enterprises already have service centers for Roshel armored vehicles.
At the end of May 2025, it was announced that more than 1800 Senator armored vehicles had been in service in Ukraine since the beginning of the Russian full-scale invasion.
The Senator armored vehicle has gained a good reputation in Ukraine. In addition, a command and staff vehicle was developed on its basis.
