Power outages have been reported in the Russian city of Belgorod following a missile attack.
According to the Operational Headquarters of the Belgorod Region, residents are also experiencing water supply disruptions. The outages began after a missile alert was issued in the region at 5:34 a.m.
According to the operational headquarters, the initial strike damaged energy infrastructure facilities, causing the outages.
It is worth noting that the Ukrainian Defense Forces have repeatedly targeted infrastructure supporting the enemy’s war effort.
For example, on May 15, 2026, Ukraine’s Defense Forces carried out a missile strike on the Michurinskaya thermal power plant operated by GT Energo in the city of Belgorod.
At the time, local residents reported explosions near the facility, after which water supply disruptions occured in several parts of the city.
It supplies power to the production facilities and administrative buildings of the Belenergomash – BZEM plant and is not part of the city’s district heating system.
The enterprise specializes in manufacturing equipment for Russia’s energy, oil and gas, petrochemical, and nuclear industries.
Missiles have also repeatedly struck the local Luch thermal power plant. In addition, the facility came under attack in January 2026.
The Russian energy site was also targeted multiple times in 2025.
On April 16, drones struck an electrical substation in the city. At the time, UAVs targeted the Yuzhnaya substation located on the Gubkina street.
