62-year-old David Boylett has been sentenced to four and a half years in the UK for 3D-printing a firearm.
According to the National Crime Agency, police searching his home in Telford found two 3D printers, firearm parts, tools, and an almost fully assembled handgun.
Experts determined that the man was just 15 minutes away from removing the excess polymer, which would have made the weapon fully functional.
Using the seized digital files, investigators printed the remaining components and successfully test-fired the completed firearm.
In addition, officers seized an air rifle, ammunition, and a component from a shotgun that had been stolen in 2012.
Militarnyi previously reported that the American firearms researcher and Forgotten Weapons host Ian McCollum conducted tests on a captured Russian AS Val assault rifle.
