Ukrainian Liutyi strike drones attacked a Russian petrochemical plant in the city of Sterlitamak, Bashkortostan, on the morning of April 15.
The Exilenova+ Telegram channel reported the incident and shared video footage of the attack.
Local residents who witnessed the event saw thick black smoke rising into the sky from the resulting fire.
It is currently known that the drones likely struck JSC Sterlitamak Petrochemical Plant, a key industrial enterprise in the region.
The facility specializes in producing synthetic rubbers, including styrene-butadiene and isoprene, which are used in the tire industry and in the manufacture of rubber products.
The plant also produces latexes, resins, and other petrochemical products, and is part of the Russian Roskhim holding company.
Russian air defense systems, while attempting to protect Sterlitamak’s industrial zone, tried to intercept the drones but apparently failed.
A UAV threat alert was declared in the Republic of Bashkortostan after 7 a.m.
In local community channels, residents shared footage of Liutyi drones flying over residential areas and reported hearing explosions shortly afterward.
Notably, on April 13, strike drones also reached a Russian chemical facility in the city of Cherepovets, Vologda region.
Following the strike, fires broke out in two of its three ammonia production units, with a combined capacity of 900,000 tons per year.
On the night of April 11, Ukrainian drones again attacked the territory of the Krymskaya oil pumping station in Krasnodar Krai. The strike caused a fire.
