On August 27 in St. Petersburg, a car carrying a lieutenant colonel of the Russian Aerospace Forces and his wife was blown up.
Fontanka and several Russian Telegram channels reported this.
The officer was killed in the explosion, and his wife was taken to the intensive care unit.
The explosion occurred in the morning at 18 Kolpinskoye Highway in the Slavyanka neighborhood, which is part of the village of Shushary in St. Petersburg’s Pushkin District.
According to eyewitnesses, around 10 a.m., the soldier and his wife were pulling away from their home when a homemade explosive device detonated in the car.
The Russian soldier was killed instantly. His wife survived and was taken to the hospital in critical condition. Both had their legs blown off as a result of the explosion.
Eyewitnesses also told the Russian publication “Ostorozhno, Novosti” that the blast wave severely deformed the driver’s-side door of the car and damaged nearby vehicles.
According to preliminary information, a homemade explosive device detonated inside the car.
Based on available information, a significant portion of the housing in the area where the explosion occurred was purchased by the Russian Ministry of Defense for Russian military personnel and their families.
The Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation opened a criminal case regarding a car fire that injured two people. The committee confirmed that one of the victims was hospitalized, while the other died.
In early August in Russia, the manufacturer of Upyry FPV drones and the author of the Povyornyti na voyne propaganda Telegram channel were blown up.
In addition, Russian Army Major General Valery Plokhotnyuk was killed in an explosion near the Balzi Rossi restaurant in Moscow.
